current travel requirements

Passport Information

The requirement for passports for land travel has been postponed until June 2009. Currently, to travel by foot or car to Mexico, a person is required to show a Birth Certificate and a Driver’s License or State ID unless they already have a passport. In which case, a passport would be the preferred travel document. It is very important that the Birth Certificate be a legal certificate from the health department. It is illegal to produce a photo copy of a birth certificate to a government official.
